Dear you:

It’s September and like Januaries, at least for me, it’s a nose to the grindstone and the pen to the page and the hustle & the hikes, et al …

This is a small operation that I’m running here, and the ball only goes up the hill as far as I’m willing to push it.  That’s not to say I don’t have help.  I do.  But these are AI times – chat GPT times – and your favourite venue closing kind of times…

So there it is.  The Dream Cafe in Penticton, BC has closed its doors.
I can’t really put into words what that room has meant to me, and many of my contemporaries.  I’ve stood on tables rocking out with my band.  I’ve sat in a chair telling stories about my childhood to a hushed audience of 110-ish patrons of the arts.  I’ve visited that market; that beautiful little city by the lake over and over again, getting to know familiar faces each time out, because the Dream Cafe existed as my home away from home on the road.  I loved playing this room.  Solo, duo, band, Lion Bear Fox… I rolled into the Dream in every configuration I’ve ever existed as.  No matter who was signing my cheques, and no matter who was behind the bar or serving tables, they all did it the right way.  Pierre & Deb, Hazel & Jim and Kevin and ALL their staffs & sound techs… great folks who worked their asses off to keep that place running.  To them all I say thank you.  See y’all down the road some time.

That’s it for the moment… I’ve got to rehearse, promote, & plot a new video for this aforementioned single… Super pleased to be working with Sean Lyons (Directed “Feed Your Mind” & “One More Fire” from ‘Live Now’) once again… hope we come up with something for you to look at for 3 minutes or so!
